Where all this started - The Credit Report
by Julian on Feb.01, 2000,under House Purchase
I initially looked at purchasing a house in late 1999 - early 2000. I pulled my credit reports and discovered all kinds of erroneous information. There were accounts reported as delinquent that were paid off.
...
One account was a collection account that was for a doctor's visit that the insurance had paid twice on, and they were asking me for a third payment. I refused. I also found that I had two social security numbers (news to me) and that I lived in a couple of places that I'd never heard off.
Fast forward 8 years. As of Christmas I had a good credit score. Two months later I was back in the poor category. An old account had been re-aged and placed back into my files, in violation of the FCRA. I also found a couple of accounts that were paid in full, listed as collection accounts. More certified letters and now waiting for the results.
